Neurological care specialists are healthcare professionals who diagnose, treat, and manage disorders of the nervous system, which includes the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. Here are some key points about them:

Types of Neurological Specialists:

  2. Neurosurgeons: Surgeons who perform operations on the brain, spinal cord, and nerves, often dealing with conditions like tumors, injuries, or structural abnormalities.
  3. Neuropsychologists: Specialists who assess and treat cognitive and behavioral issues related to neurological conditions.
  4. Neurophysiologists: Focus on the function of the nervous system and may conduct tests like EEGs and EMGs to assess nerve and muscle function.
  5. Physiatrists: Rehabilitation specialists who focus on restoring function and quality of life for patients with neurological impairments.

Common Disorders Treated:

  • Stroke
  • Epilepsy
  • Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias
  • Neuropathies
